Congratulations to the new "MR. and MRS. BRIAN AND EMILY ETHRIDGE" who tied the knot last November 3rd at Roaring Camp
in Santa Cruz.
GETTING TO KNOW THEM
Both Brian and Emily are 26, from
San Jose.
Brian dreams of being a
Firefighter, has an AS degree in Fire Science from Mission College, graduated
from South Bay Fire Academy and is actively pursuing his career. Earning his EMT license, he is currently an
EMT for WestMed. Brian loves to read,
listen to vinyl, enjoys the outdoors and will eat almost anything!
Emily went to the Fashion Institute
of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco to pursue her passion in Visual
Merchandising. She also has a passion
for Dancing. She was heavily involved in
a Dance Team from 6th Grade to her Freshman year in College, and
dancing will always be a big part of her life.
She loves to cook, as well as bake, and is obsessed with anything S’more-related.
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
They first met at a Friend’s
birthday party while Brian was walking out the door when Emily was introduced
by a mutual friend. It was simple, quick
and over, so fast it barely registered for Emily. For Brian, he couldn’t get her out of his
head. Just a few words and she would
forever change his life. A couple months
went by with little contact. They would
briefly see each other in passing at a local church college group, but that was
it. Emily started to notice Brian more
but thought he wasn’t interested in her and was just a really nice guy. Finally one night, a mutual friend decided
she was going to find out if Brian liked Emily.
So she texted and Brian and asked if he wanted Emily’s phone
number. He said YES! She asked Emily to give him her number so she
didn’t have to look it up in her contacts.
Emily rattled off her number not thinking about it, until the next
morning. Emily work up to a text from her
mother saying “who’s this Brian guy texting me thinking I’m you?”. Horror struck, she freaked out, scrambled to
find Brian’s number and immediately texted him back apologizing for giving him
her mother’s number. The ice was broken,
and the rest was history.
SHE SAID "YES!"
”After a year and a half of dating, I decided to buy an engagement
ring for Emily in April 2013. In June,
surprised Emily by getting a day-off so we could spend some time together. After a week of planning and prepping, the
day had arrived. We drove out to
Pescadero to grab lunch and have their Artichoke Bread which we loved so
much. The next stop on our day was to
Memorial Park. This place has special
value to Emily and her Family because it’s where they grew up camping as Children,
made memories and was the perfect place to propose to her. I got her to give me a tour around the park
where they played “capture the flag” and where her older brother, Matt, carved
their last name into a giant fallen redwood.
When we came upon a small grove of redwoods, I came up from behind to
hug her as I asked her to look up and see how high these trees were. While she was looking up, I pulled out the
box which inside held the ring on a necklace with a heart-shaped locket on
it. After she shook the box like a
6-year old girl does to figure out what’s inside her Christmas present, she
opened it. And inside the locket were
the words inscripted “Be Mine Forever”.
After she looked into my eyes, squeezing me so tight, I asked her to be
my Wife. I couldn’t get down on my knees
because she was holding me so tight. But
after a few breathless moments … she said “YES!”. Shortly after, she finally released me and I
got down on one knee and put the ring on her finger. That moment was one of my happiest moments in
my life.”
To Brian and Emily . . .
Love is patient, Love is kind
It does not envy, it does not boast
It is not proud, it is not rude
It is not self-seeking, it is not
easily angered
It keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth
Love always protects, alwayts
trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres
Loves bears all things, believes all
things,
hopes all things, endures all
things
Love never ends
Love never fails
