Tate & Ted Tied the Knot!

Congratulations to TATE FULLER and TED WAY who tied the knot last Saturday, September 21st with their Wedding Ceremony at St. Thomas Aquiñas Church in Palo Alto, followed by their Reception at the Way Residence in Atherton.

Set-up began all day Friday for the Wedding on Saturday, at the private residence of the Groom’s Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don and Sylvie Way, in Atherton.  It’s a magnificent classic architecturally designed Estate in park-like surroundings that offered expansive grounds for entertaining.  The weather forecast was very unpredictable and it was an entire day of “rollercoaster” decision makings not sure if we were going to use Plan A or Plan B, pending on mother nature.  It started out sunny, then a few clouds, then the threat of rain but couldn’t confirm if it was going to be light or heavy or what.  We had to also take into consideration that the Cocktail Reception was in the Front Lawn and Pool Courtyard, and the Dinner/Dance in the Back Lawn – both outdoors!  So, Plan B was to take the Cocktail Reception inside the home and fare out the weather to see if we can continue to have the Dinner outdoors later.  We bought rolls of protective plastic sheets to cover everything, including protecting the Black and White-checkered dancefloor from water damage.  We even had to rent a large clear canopy at the very last minute (and thankfully found one available - THANK YOU CLASSIC PARTY RENTALS!) to cover over the dancefloor.

When Saturday morning came, it was pouring “Cats and Dogs” – literally heavy diagonal sheets of rain and wind kept pounding off and on throughout the entire day.  What was forecasted as 10% of Showers, later changed to 30%.  But I swear, having been there, it was 100% of pure Storm!  We were all beside ourselves.  And yet, despite all the back-up plans, the worrying, the franticness of it all, suddenly . . . a miracle happened.  Just minutes before the Wedding Ceremony began at the Church, the sun parted the clouds and patches of blue masked the skies.  I was taken back with amazement knowing someone up there was watching over us.  And without hesitation, I said “LET’S GO!  WE’VE GOT A WEDDING TO DO!”.  My “Wedding Dream Team” quickly removed all the plastic covers, dried off anything that was wet, left Plan B in place with the Cocktail Reception inside (and outside) of the house, while we kept Plan A to have Dinner set-up in the Back Lawn.  The good thing was, it was a Catholic Ceremony that lasted almost an hour, and would take at least 20 minutes for the guests to arrive from the Church to the Reception.  So that bought us time to quickly re-set and refresh everything.  The end result was far better than what we had anticipated, and the outcome was PURE MAGIC!

Here was Tate's reaction when she first walked in to see the
Dinner set-up in the Back Lawn ... classic!
